The Trump Administration has announced a nearly $17 million investment in rural Kansas through the federal Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), targeting healthcare technology adoption and patient transportation infrastructure.
“President Trump understands that every American deserves high-quality healthcare, no matter where they live,” said HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. “We are putting resources directly into rural communities to strengthen the health workforce, modernize infrastructure, expand access, and bring care closer to home.”
“President Trump made a historic commitment to rural America, and these investments are turning that commitment into better care for patients in communities across Kansas,” said CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz.
How the Funding Breaks Down
- $16 million in Emerging Technology Grants will help 14 rural providers adopt cutting-edge tools including diagnostic technology, remote patient monitoring, AI-enabled solutions, and surgical and assistive technologies.
- $780,000 will fund the Interfacility Transport Project, improving regional transportation coordination so rural patients can reach specialty and behavioral healthcare faster and more safely.
The Working Families Tax Cuts Act made this investment possible by authorizing a historic $50 billion to help states transform rural healthcare delivery across the country. CMS RHTP Overview
What This Means for Healthcare Organizations
The RHTP continues to channel significant federal dollars into state-level rural health technology and infrastructure. For providers operating in rural markets, these grants signal an ongoing federal push toward technology-enabled care delivery, including remote patient monitoring and AI-assisted diagnostics.
Rural providers should monitor RHTP awards in their states and assess how they align with local technology and transportation gaps as additional state-level awards are announced.
